Tom Rizzo Keynote

At the Keynote, we listen to Thomas Rizzo. Tom Rizzo is the Director for SharePoint at Microsoft. Tom solidified the fact that Sharepoint is, currently, the fastest selling product. In fact, Microsoft has doubled their support size. Tom has also stated that Microsoft is committed to investing additional monies in the SharePoint technologies. That encourages organizations to purchase the platform because of that fact.

Tom also spoke about the Microsoft's sharpoint strategy. It boils down to empowerment of the user community. Sharepoint is visioned as a single business productivity platform totally leveraged by the user communities, designers, and development.

Tom spoke about SharePoint's recent support in virtualization. SharePoint is supported on Hyper V. Also, Microsoft is working on support on the VMWare platform. "

Most importantly, Tom spoke about SharePoint place in the infrastructure? Its place is as a part of the core infrastructure. But, SharePoint is built for the end users. But, it offers flexibility for control for the SharePoint administrators.

Hosted services was also a headliner for Tom's keynote. SharePoint online is the latest interest. Tom spoke about Microsoft's future investment in support of hosted services.

Tom spoke to the best practices about some of the Microsoft customers' implementation of SharePoint. He discuss companies, such as, Viacom, General Mills, Krogers, Starbucks, Assenture and Ford, implementation of Sharepoint. Tom totally focused on the features primarily leveraged by the various customers.

Tom discussed the fact that Microsoft, continues, to eat their own dog food. Tom was proud of Microsoft's implementation of SharePoint across the globe. Tom does expect some changes in their use of Search in the future, but he was limited to discussing the specifics of SharePoint. Microsoft utilizes the total empowerment model but does verify.
